To read other blogs I have written explaining Psalms, use this link. So, this passage of Scripture does not claim that dogs or any other animal will be in Heaven. The "idea" here is, that as we cannot fathom the ocean or penetrate to its bottom, so it is with the judgments of God. Thy righteousness - Thy justice; that is, the justice of God considered as residing in his own nature; his justice in his laws; his justice in his providential dealings; his justice in his plan of delivering man from sin; his justice to the universe in administering the rewards and penalties of the law. By saying that Gods lovingkindness extends to the heavens and His faithfulness to the skies, David means that these qualities are immense or inexhaustible. But the communications of divine favour and grace will satisfy, but never surfeit. They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; and You give them to drink of the river of Your delights. Abundance is literally, fatness. It pictures the best portion of meat from the sacrifices offered at the temple. Psalm 71:19 Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! The old Psalter, in paraphrasing mountains of God, says, Thi ryghtwisnes, that es, ryghtwis men, er gastly hilles of God; for that er hee in contemplacioun, and soner resayves the lyght of Crist. [2.] the uplifted strength of the hills became an emblem of His eternal truth; the depth and expanse of the infinite sea of His outspread goodness and inexhaustible justice. For example, Adam named all the various kinds of animals, so this shows a level of approachability that he would have had with each kind of creature, (see Genesis 2:19-20). (Psalm 36:6) This is a superlative expression; the Psalmist is saying that God couldn't be any more righteous than He already is. But, theres more! Q. Verses 5-9: Lord, Youre faithful. This, as the four arms of the river of Paradise had one common source (Genesis 2:10), has its spring in God, yea, God is the fountain itself. Though God suffers wicked people to do a great deal of mischief, yet he is and will be faithful to his threatenings against sin, and there will come a day when he will reckon with them; he is faithful also to his covenant with his people, which cannot be broken, nor one jot or tittle of the promises of it defeated by all the malice of earth and hell.
